Orca Security is a cloud security company founded in 2019 by former Check Point executives. The company pioneered agentless cloud security with its patented SideScanning technology, which scans cloud workloads by reading block storage directly rather than deploying agents. Orca has raised over $640 million in funding at a $1.8 billion valuation.

Platform Overview

The Orca Cloud Security Platform provides unified CNAPP capabilities combining multiple security functions in a single platform.

Cloud Security Posture Management continuously assesses cloud configurations against CIS benchmarks and compliance frameworks. The platform identifies misconfigurations, policy violations, and drift across multi-cloud environments.

Cloud Workload Protection scans VMs, containers, and serverless functions for vulnerabilities, malware, and exposed secrets without requiring agent installation. SideScanning technology reconstructs workload files from block storage snapshots.

Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management analyzes IAM policies and permissions across cloud accounts. The platform identifies excessive privileges, toxic permission combinations, and cross-account access risks.

Attack path analysis correlates vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and identity issues to identify exploitable paths to critical assets. Context-aware risk prioritization helps teams focus on the most dangerous combinations.

SideScanning Technology

Orca’s patented SideScanning approach differentiates it from agent-based solutions. The technology connects to cloud APIs and reads workload data from block storage snapshots, enabling deep visibility without performance impact or deployment friction.

This approach enables deployment in minutes rather than months. There are no agents to deploy, manage, or update. Full visibility is achieved without coverage gaps from missing agents, and there is no performance impact on production workloads.

Key Customers

Orca serves over 500 enterprise customers including Carlsberg Group, Unity, Databricks, Robinhood, Autodesk, and Lemonade. The company reports 21% of customers have more than 10,000 employees.

Recent Developments

In May 2025, Orca acquired Opus, an AI-driven automation startup, to add agentic AI-powered remediation capabilities. The company expanded partnerships with Zscaler in December 2025 for Zero Trust integration.

Orca settled a two-year patent dispute with Wiz in January 2026, with both companies dismissing all claims with prejudice.

Leadership

The company was co-founded by Avi Shua (Chief Innovation Officer) and Gil Geron (CEO). Both served in Israel’s Unit 8200 and held leadership positions at Check Point before founding Orca.
