Imperva is a web application and data security company founded in 2002 by Shlomo Kramer (co-founder of Check Point), Amichai Shulman, and Mickey Boodaei. The company was acquired by Thales for $3.6 billion in December 2023, creating a global cybersecurity leader. Imperva is a 9-time Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for Web Application and API Protection.

Platform Overview

Imperva provides integrated application and data security through cloud and on-premises solutions.

Web application firewall protects websites and applications from OWASP Top 10 threats. The cloud-based WAF achieves near-zero false positives with 94% of customers deploying in blocking mode. Automated policy creation and global SOC backing simplify operations.

API security provides continuous discovery of public, private, and shadow APIs. The platform monitors APIs across environments, tracks changes, detects design flaws, and protects against OWASP API Security Top 10.

DDoS protection mitigates layer 3, 4, and 7 attacks with always-on monitoring. The platform integrates with application security for comprehensive protection.

Data security through Imperva Data Security Fabric provides data activity monitoring, data masking (Imperva Camouflage), and database security. Data Risk Intelligence, launched in 2024, integrates with Thales CipherTrust for unified data protection.
