Delinea is a privileged access management (PAM) company formed in 2021 from the merger of Thycotic and Centrify, two established PAM vendors with complementary strengths. Thycotic was known for its Secret Server product and ease of deployment, while Centrify specialized in identity-centric privilege management for hybrid and cloud environments. The combined entity, backed by private equity firm TPG, adopted the Delinea name and set out to build a unified, cloud-native PAM platform.
Platform
Secret Server
Delinea’s flagship product, originally from Thycotic, is an enterprise-grade privileged password vault that discovers, manages, and rotates privileged credentials across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Secret Server supports automated password rotation, session recording, approval workflows, and integrates with SIEM, ITSM, and DevOps tools. Available as both on-premises and cloud-hosted deployments.
Privilege Manager
Endpoint privilege management for Windows and Mac that removes local admin rights and implements application control policies. Privilege Manager allows organizations to enforce least privilege on endpoints by elevating only approved applications and tasks, reducing the risk of malware execution and lateral movement.
Server Suite (Cloud Suite)
Centralized authentication and privilege management for Linux, Unix, and Windows servers uses Active Directory or cloud identity providers as the authoritative identity source. The suite provides just-in-time privilege elevation, MFA enforcement, and audit trails for server access.
DevOps Secrets Vault
A purpose-built secrets management solution for DevOps and CI/CD pipelines provides API-driven secrets injection, dynamic secrets generation, and automated credential rotation for applications, containers, and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
Connection Manager
A unified remote session management tool provides IT administrators with secure, audited access to RDP and SSH sessions, with full recording and keystroke logging.
StrongDM Acquisition
In January 2026, Delinea acquired StrongDM, a dynamic access management company, to extend its platform beyond traditional credential vaulting into real-time, context-aware access brokering. StrongDM’s technology provides infrastructure access management that grants just-in-time, just-enough access to databases, servers, Kubernetes clusters, and cloud resources based on user identity, device posture, and request context. The acquisition positions Delinea to compete in the emerging dynamic privileged access and zero standing privilege markets.
Market Position
Delinea competes in the PAM market against CyberArk (the market leader), BeyondTrust, One Identity, and Saviynt. The company is positioned as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management and differentiates on deployment flexibility (cloud, on-premises, hybrid) and ease of use, particularly for mid-market and upper-mid-market organizations.
The Thycotic-Centrify merger gave Delinea a broad product portfolio, though integrating two legacy codebases into a unified platform has been an ongoing effort. The StrongDM acquisition signals Delinea’s strategic direction toward dynamic, identity-first access management, moving beyond static vaulting to real-time access decisions.
Under TPG’s ownership, Delinea has invested in modernizing its cloud platform and expanding its global sales organization, with a focus on competitive displacement of CyberArk in accounts where deployment complexity and cost are friction points.
