Cyera is the largest standalone data security posture management company, valued at $9 billion following a $400 million Series F round in January 2026 led by Blackstone. Founded by former Israeli military intelligence (Unit 8200) veterans, Cyera uses AI to automatically discover, classify, and secure sensitive data across cloud, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and on-premises environments.

How It Works

The platform performs agentless scanning across more than 50 data stores including AWS S3, Azure Blob, GCP Cloud Storage, Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, and on-premises databases. Cyera discovers shadow data, meaning copies, exports, and derivatives of sensitive data that exist outside managed repositories.

The deep learning classification engine identifies sensitive data types like PII, PHI, PCI, credentials, and intellectual property with claimed 95%+ accuracy. Unlike regex-based tools, Cyera’s classifier understands context and meaning, reducing false positives on unstructured data.

Risk assessment provides continuous scoring based on data sensitivity, exposure level, access controls, encryption status, and regulatory applicability. The platform identifies misconfigurations, excessive permissions, and compliance violations.

Cyera expanded into data loss prevention through the 2025 acquisition of Trail Security for $162 million. The company now offers DLP capabilities that enforce data handling policies informed by the platform’s classification and risk intelligence. Privacy automation handles data subject request fulfillment, consent management, and privacy impact assessments powered by the underlying data discovery and classification engine.

Funding History

The Series F in January 2026 raised $400 million at a $9 billion valuation, led by Blackstone. Series E in mid-2025 brought in $540 million at $6 billion. Series D in 2024 raised $300 million at $3 billion. Series C in 2023 raised $300 million at $1.4 billion, led by Coatue Management. Series B in 2023 was $100 million at $500 million. Series A in 2022 raised $60 million at $200 million, led by Accel and Sequoia Capital. Total raised exceeds $1.3 billion in less than four years. Investors include Blackstone, Coatue Management, Accel, Sequoia Capital, and Redpoint Ventures.

Market Position

Cyera is the largest independent DSPM vendor by valuation, competing with Varonis, Wiz (Google), and Securiti. Seven DSPM startups were acquired by major vendors since mid-2023, with buyers including IBM, Rubrik, Palo Alto, CrowdStrike, Tenable, Netskope, and Proofpoint. This makes Cyera one of the few remaining independent players at scale.
