Sophos Ltd. is a British cybersecurity company owned by Thoma Bravo since a $3.9 billion take-private acquisition in 2020. The company focuses on the mid-market, providing integrated security products managed through a single cloud console. In 2025, Sophos acquired Secureworks from Dell Technologies for $859 million, adding Secureworks’ Taegis XDR platform, managed security operations, and threat intelligence capabilities.

Products

Sophos MDR is one of the largest MDR services in the world, protecting over 28,000 organizations. It provides 24x7 threat detection and response delivered by Sophos analysts, with the flexibility to work with existing customer security tools rather than requiring a rip-and-replace.

Sophos Intercept X handles endpoint protection by combining deep learning malware detection, anti-ransomware technology called CryptoGuard, exploit prevention, and EDR/XDR capabilities. For network security, Sophos Firewall offers next-generation protection with TLS inspection, IPS, application control, and SD-WAN.

All of this is managed through Sophos Central, a unified cloud console that provides single-pane visibility across endpoint, firewall, email, wireless, and mobile security. Following the acquisition, Secureworks’ Taegis XDR platform provides cloud-native threat detection and response with embedded threat intelligence from the Secureworks Counter Threat Unit.

Synchronized Security

What sets Sophos apart is how their security products share real-time threat intelligence and coordinate automated response. When Intercept X detects a compromised endpoint, Sophos Firewall automatically isolates it from the network without human intervention.

Market Position

Sophos is a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms and is consistently top-ranked for mid-market MDR. The Secureworks acquisition significantly expanded Sophos’s enterprise and managed security operations capabilities.
